WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION AND WHERE TO GO FOR MORE INFORMATION.

If you very recently had unprotected sex but don’t want to get pregnant, Emergency Contraception may be just the thing for you. Taking Emergency Contraception (EC) within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse can prevent a pregnancy from occurring. Don’t confuse EC with the “abortion pill” or RU-486.  If a pregnancy has already taken place, EC can’t change that. But it might not be too late to stop the pregnancy from happening. Here’s how it works: EC is made up of the same ingredients as ordinary birth control pills. The difference is that the hormones in EC are very concentrated and, depending on where a woman is in her cycle when she has unprotected sex, EC will either delay ovulation, inhibit fertilization, or inhibit implantation of a fertilized egg.

Visit the links below for more information about EC, including questions that other teens have had about EC, or visit www.not-2-late.com to find out how to get EC where you live.
