These data suggest an overall downward trend for the percentage of births to teen mothers over the last five years but variability in this trend is also noted. Specifically, the lowest percentage of births to teens was recorded in 2001 and then the trend moved slightly upward for two years, finally descending again in 2004. Overall East Hartford clearly demonstrates a need for teen pregnancy prevention services relative to the rest of the state.
